Depends on the age , the situation should get handle based by that. Just remember to not to blame them for anything, dont ask her why, dont call it stupid. Tell the your friend that your worried about them and that you care for the very much. Sometimes they need to talk to someone suggest that person be you but you should study and research the topic of why people cut , so that you can understand it. Sometimes it depends oh how close you are to the person , and it might sound odd, but kiss the scars of where the person as cut. Sometimes this helps them to understand that there are people there that care and support them. If really bad please talk to someone who trust for moral support and help.

Support her. Treat her like any other person. Watch out for warning signs that maybe she can't control it. Go to the doctor with her to seek professional counselling or medication. Most of all do not betray her trust, and always let her know that she has you to talk to and that you will not betray her unless you fear for her safety... TRUST is the biggest issue you are talking about, but dont take on anything you cant handle. Dont threaten to tell her parents, it wont work, chances are she wont talk to you again when she needs someone to talk to.

At first try to tell her that its wrong to do this and to see a councilor. Tell her that this happens alot and will be kept confidently. If she wont listen, then with out telling her, tell a councilor or a teacher about it. It will also be confidential. Hope your friend feels better.

Tell someone before it's too late! Even you are bffs it's hard to tell when it could get out of control. Maybe she'll get mad at you but that's way better than having her dead. In the long run she'll be better off, trust me.

usually thats a sign that they are asking for help. Talk to her parents or a counselor at school. Get her help before it is too late. You dont want to be sitting at a funeral with those regrets.
