Honestly, and this is something I don't share for any but medical purposes, I masturbate once a night at least 5 nights a week, typically for over an hour... no pain, no visible damage. But I personally advise using lubricant, lest your skin get sore (penile scabs are REALLY creepy).
If you want to be well taken care of, get a woman. They're usually very gentle, once they understand how sensitive we can be. The only drawback is that they expect to be treated just as well as they treat us (although how much they expect varies).

i dont see how...my bf is very rough with his....he likes to beat it off the counter HARD!!! he says it gets sore and tingles real bad but its never bruised

Yes, it's possible.
Much more likely with males who are circumcised.
