Every woman and every pregnancy is different. Your body begins making changes and producing hormones etc. right away so you could, in theory, feel something withing a few hours. A missed period is usually the first symptom but that is a very small "usually". For all three of my pregnancies, I felt like I had the flu within one or two days but I never realized that it was pregnancy. With the first I was suspicious (not for any real reason though) after about two weeks. With the second, it was within a week of conception. This last pregnancy (I'm at 15 weeks) I knew after about 20 hours. I was absolutely fine then I just sorta crashed, I felt like I had been hit by a bus. I was instantly exhausted, tired, and nauseated and man did my breasts hurt. If you think you are pregnant or even if you just really want to be, you need to start living as if you were; no drinking, no medicine or narcotics until you know (two regular strength Tylenol for a headache but nothing else). If you are not in a monogamous relationship, you need to be extra careful not to pick up any STDs.
You could attribute any number of symptoms to pregnancy but you really won't know until you get a positive test for HcG sometime after your period should have come.

For me, the first sign of being pregnant was a missed period. But, I also just had this "feeling" inside of me that caused me to just know that I was pregnant. It sounds crazy but something in my mind told me I was long before I missed my period.

The first sign is usually a missed period. Then breast tenderness and nausea follow. Sometimes there will be cramping right before the missed period.
