It depends on why the couple is infertile. There are surgeries for females and males, drugs for both, intrauterine insemination, invitro fertilization, donor sperm, donor eggs, the list goes on and on....

The treatments are extremely successful. The options are dependent on why you are infertile. But, some doctors say no matter the reason, IVF with ICSI is the way to go. It is more successful the younger the woman is, as the quality of her eggs seems to diminish the older she gets.
There is also Clomid and Pegonal injections, which have helped some women. Low sperm count there are less options: like IUI, but IVF with ICSI is most successful. If you are Catholic, you can still find some clinics that do the GIFT procedure, where they inject the man's sperm right inside the woman's fallopian tube with her egg, and let nature take its course.
