I'm thinking of writing a book. I don't know what it's going to be about, or even the genre of the book, or if I could ever finish one. BUT I'm really good at essays reports ect. Get perfect grades on all writing assignments (not that grades have anything to do with it) and my English 2 honors teacher said to me recently ,quote "I'm a gifted writer". I've had almost all my english teachers in the past compliment my writting but they've never said anything like that., so I thought about it..Maybe I'm not "gifted" in writting as she put it, but maybe I am good enough to write my own book if I at least attempted..All I know is that you can't JUST "write" a book, it takes lots of work, thought ,time and research to accomplish that.I looked it up and learned that Christopher Paolini (the author of Eragon, same as the movie that just came out) was only 15 when he started writting the book...I'm only 15 years old, Do you think I could ever get a book published if it was good enough, at my age?

It is definitely possible ! Here's a tip though : Don't think far in advance, because that is what will slow you down, and unmotivate yout, because then you will get tired of the idea of writing a book and thus lose your motivation, trust me I felt like you too.

So my advice is too start small and work small until you finish like first thinking what your book is about, then writing some of the book, then coming up with the title etc.

Then after you almost finish your book find facts on copywriting them.

Good luck, but don't stress it will be easy for you !

If it's a very genuine and unique idea... then you might, but prepared for a lot of rejections! I'm sixteen and have also gotten the same praise "gifted writer" and so I've tried to send in articles and stuff but am always getting rejected. Even the greats, such as Stephen King were rejected a lot and they're much older than fifteen. Age has nothing to do with publishing, it's how determined you are.

I think it's a great idea. I'm trying to write a book too. As for my essays, your right about having to put time into it. If I put effort and time into my essays I end up doing well, if I don't, I won't do well. I have already written the first chapter for like five books I wanted to publish, I wrote five because every time I wrote the first chapter, I decided I didn't like the storyline. I think I've finally found one. Try it. It's fun. Think how great you'll feel if you publish a book. I think 15 years is a good time to try. Just try, try, and try again.

If I were you, I'd start out with something small instead of something really big. Why not write a short story or some other personal experience article and send it in to one of the teen magazines? There's Girls Life, Teen, Seventeen, and a few others. Getting published by a magazine will give your confidence a great boost. I wish you the best!

You don't have to be a 'gifted writer' to write a book! Just let your imagination roll and jot down a few ideas whenever you feel like it.

I'd advise you not to force yourself to write too much or you'll get tired of it and if you get writer's block, go and take a walk or something to clear your mind.

I'm 16 and I've written little children's books for as long as I can remember and I LOVE reading and I'm in the process of writing a novel, I'm loving it and I, personally, don't think it's too bad.

Just do it if you enjoy it, who knows what will become of it!

You most likely could but it takes ALOT to make a book. you have to be sure it is an interesting and captivating story with NO mistakes and so on. you can definitly do it but it may take awhile and maybe even near your 16th b-day because making a book takes patience and time. Good Luck!

Yes. If you do not venture into this that tickles you, you will then later regret not writing. If writing is your passion and a book is what you want to create, do so.

Do not be part of the would-of, could-of,should-of crowd. You have the world ahead of you.
