Silent Hill was based on the underground mine fires in Centralia, Pennsylvania.
That town is a few minutes from my house. A lot of the houses in it are gone, the government paid most of the people in the town to leave, but some older couples stayed since it's their home and stuff. The town really isn't interesting at all, lol.

Are there any real ghost towns like in "Silent Hill?" I doubt it, but real ghost towns do exist. The most famous one in Texas is Terlingua in far West Texas. All 'ghost town' means is an abandoned town with a population of zero.

Bodie California is the largest Ghost Town still hanging around. There are over 60 buildings, at least when I went several years ago. Go in the summer because it is very high elevation.

Yup and right here in WV. Everything has been taken out of most of them. But there are lots of places with furniture and stuff that hasn't been taken. We also really do have coal mines that are on fire underground that have been burning for years. But there nothing crazy like in the movie running people out of town.

It's not really a ghost town but there is a town called Centralia in Pennsylvania. The games are based (I guess) in this town. There are people still living there (why I don't know). I guess it's there home.
