Candy Land and Hungry Hippo as a child and at 32 I just played Battle Ship for the first time with my kids and I love it. My husband hates to play with me because I always win, woo hoo. We also love UNO. Aren't board games great? Good times with family and friends.

The ancient Asian board game of go. The basics are easier to learn than chess, but there are more levels of complexity (no computer program has yet achieved the strength of a strong amateur). Thanks to the simplicity of it's design, it's very easy to handicap so that players of far different strengths can have a challenging game. If one is a beginner or in a hurry, one can play on a smaller board. It has a rich cultural depth and history. And on top of all that, the same boards and pieces can be used to play some other games like go-moku and pente when one is up for a lighter game.

Balderdash. Played in a group. You are given dates, words, movie titles, etc.... and everyone in the group "makes up a believable definition". The fake answers are read "along with the real answer". Each member of the group then votes on which one they think is the correct answer. You get points if someone picks your made up answer to be true, you get points if you pick the "real answer". Some things folks come up with are down right hilarious. The first time I played I literally pee'd my pants.

Monopoly is number one. I have enjoyed it because of my love for money and I just want to own everything and charge as much as i can to make a big profit. It would be nice if you could still have monopolies in real life so you could just charge the hell out of people for something like gas for your car, or electronics for your home
