I hated it. Four years on it, I gained weight, had mood swings from he** two weeks before my next shot, I spotted and the weirdest times, I had not much of a sex drive.
Found out that you need a bone density check after having it for five years because it seriously screws with your bone health and got OFF of that thing FAST.
I am now on Kariva (birth control pill) and my mood swings are not horrid and my weight is somewhat "normal" and my sex drive is BACK!

I used the Depo shot after my 1st son was born. I started 6 weeks after he was born and managed to get 3 shots before I decided NEVER again.
I was happy with it when I began but I noticed that with each shot I felt worse and worse. I am bipolar and found that the shots aggravated my depression. My last shot had me feeling very ill. My entire body ached. I broke out with acne really badly. I felt bloated and very crampy. I had these symptoms right from the start but as I said before, they increased each time I got a shot. By the 3rd and last shot, my doctor and I finally made the connection and decided to stop.
I had decided on the Depo shot instead of the birth control pill because I had suffered a pill-induced embolism (blood clot) in 1998 and was told I couldn't use it again.
I now have a second son and am now using an IUD (4 months). I LOVE IT!! I don't have to remember it (just check the strings once a month) and I have complete spontinaity! Although I must admit my cramping and blood flow has increased (and last a couple of days longer), they are very much worth it!
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION!!
Depo does have the benefit of decreasing your period, sometimes to the point of stopping and it is quite convenient and affordable.
Only you will know what is best for you.

because you in effortless words had one shot, you're probable not too undesirable off. I did the same aspect again when I were given married, took one shot then did my analyze. I must have finished the analyze first, I by no skill ought to have taken the shot. yet, you should undergo in ideas that not each lady is going to have the same reaction and effect to the shot. because you've had one cycle because the shot, i ought to look ahead to yet another cycle to make confident that is common and interior the 28-32 day length. If that occurs, get to toddler dancing because you're body is probable adjusting nicely. also, keep in mind that different sorts of birth control, if taken for a lengthy era of time, say over a 12 months, may reason your body to have a withdrawal once you end birth control again. it may take some months earlier your body receives again into the swing of issues. notwithstanding, some women can end birth control and conceive the subsequent day. that is truly in simple terms hit or go away out. i ought to point charting your BBT, cervical mucus and different ovulation indicators to assist conceive speedier. better of success!

I have very bad reactions after being on it for 3 yrs. The one good thing was that I didn't get preginant and didn't have my period at all. However I gained around 50lbs and it leveled out my emotions till it came time for the shot when I got very upset all the time and depressed. I had no sex drive during the shot, didn't want him to touch me at all. I blame it for the depression I suffered after trying to get off of it. Now that I'm free of the shot, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
