It doesn't have to be out of your system at all, since people sometimes get pregnant while on the pill, however my gyno recommended that I go off the pill for 2-3 mos before we tried to conceive. He said it allowed hormones to regulate back to a normal level that would reduce the chance of miscarriage. Good luck!

The birth control pill works by preventing ovulation. Once you stop taking the pill, the hormones are out of your body quickly, usually within a couple of days. When the hormones are gone your body needs to start again on its own to function. That mean it will start producing follicles again, which eventually lead you to ovulate. Everybody acts differently, some may take a couple of weeks to ovulate, other may take some months, but in general your body should be in "normal mode" within less than two to three months after stopping the pill. So if you now ovulate normally, that means your body is back to its normal rhythm.

Everyone says it takes a long time to get pregnant after the pill, my ob told me that you are the most fertile after getting off the pill. I got pregnant 1 month after stopping the pill. Some say you should be off for 3 months first.

My friend got pregnant within a couple weeks of getting off the pill. Of course she didnt find out for a month or so that she was actually pregnant. She was told it takes a month or two for the pill to wear off.

That really depends on how LONG you were on birth control. If it was a short time, your cycle should regulate itself very soon after you stop taking them. If you've been on it for a year or more it could take a while to begin ovulating again. Really, there's no set time frame - in most healthy women it doesn't take long at all. Meanwhile you can start taking a prenatal vitamin to prepare your body for the work you want it to do!

One cycle (Month). Most doctors will tell you to wait 3 cycles though.
I stopped taking birth control pills at the end of July and got pregnant at the end of Augest. I was on them for about 5 years.
