I'm about to turn twenty-two and I've never really worn make-up. I have pretty good healthy skin and a lot of natural colour, so I've never seen much point. Lately though I've been wanting to experiment with make-up, just to see if I like it. My mother never wears make-up, and I don't have any sisters. My female friends either don't wear make-up or don't wear it very well... Can someone give me some pointers? Or tell me where I can learn? Thanks.

funny thing about us women...we all think we know it all, but dammit, no one asks us to divulge all this pent up knowledge! I bet if you asked a woman aquaintance, she would be THRILLED that you trust her enough.

Make Up is sooo complicated, the best thing to do is make it as natural as possible but still give off a little essense that you are wearing makeup. No matter how good skin you have, makeup will add a little "look at me" glow to your face. According to age go from light to darkm (for eyes). Example: Teens: Light like a Blue, Adults Dark like Tan or Brown. Gold Works for all ages. Add a blush that adds just a little pink to your face, but doesnt swell your cheekbones. Depending on lashes, add some mascara to highlight your eyes. Foundation or powder is a great cover up, or just to even out some discolered skin tones.

Find yourself a Mary Kay rep in your area. Ask her about hosting a facial/makeup party. Mary Kay reps are not allowed to actually apply the product, instead, you are coached step by step on what to do. You and your friends will have fun, and pick up some pointers along with scoring some nice samples. If you have a good rep, there will not be any pressure to buy, just to try. Plus you have a full money back offer on your side if you should buy product and decide you really don't like it.

Start light and easy. Try a light brown pencil liner. Make sure you do not put it on to far away from the lid and use your fingers or even get an eye liner with a sponge to help. Next apply mascara and a taupe eye shadow on the lid (Neutrals are always flattering). Go with a sheer gloss to play up your lips natural features and blush in a pinkish brown shade and apply it to the apples of your cheeks and you are ready to go. Once you get comfortable with that trying getting a mini makeover at a beauty counter where someone will help you pick out your perfect colors.

first off, don't start out with tooo much make up or you will look weird. never use the sponge when dealing with eyeshadow, use your finger or a shadow brush. buy GOOD makeup. the cheap kind is too strong if you don't know how to apply it well. with eyelashes, get a mascara with a straight brush, not a curved one. wiggle when you start at the base of your lashes and then swipe up. uumm powder, dont use the same sponge all the time. get the cheap disposable ones and use it like twice tops. you can get a primer for your face and it will look more natural than a foundation. your skin will be flawless. there's a lot more but if you have questions email me. just go on my profile and click on email and yeah :]

There's no really "right" way to put on makeup.

It's all personal, and some people can pull off what others can't. While some like to go au naturel (no makeup at all), some can put on extreme and dramatic makeup and get away withit. It's very personal.

And just practice; it's the best way to "learn".

But if you want, you can go to cosmetic counters at the mall, find a Mary Kay beauty consultant, or something similar.

Hope I helped! =)

To learn some tricks and tips to apply makeup, go to your nearest department store:

They offer a wide selection of makeup brands, colors, and more! Also, makeup counters offer friendly staff that will help you get started with a neutral, sheer makeup. Lancome even provides a drawing of a women's face that the makeup artists teach you how to apply on. You get to take this home for future reference.

Good Luck!

my suggestion is start with just a little bit. dont over do it. ahh theres so much- mascara- take the brush and just sorta hold it in fromt of your eye, then blink slowly so it will go on, or just brush it on. go from the nose side of your eye to the outside side. blush- go along your cheekbone, not in a straight line just kinda on that area. then just smere it around- not smere, but like, kinda distribute. if you have spots on your skin that are weird or whatever, then some cover up. just put it on there and blend it in. eyeshadow- go from close to your lashes up until your actual eye is covered but not all the way to your eyebrow, and also go to the outside side a little further. lip stuff is pretty self explanatory. but if theres a hard core color that your not sure about, put on chapstick first underneath so the color will come off easier if you dont like it. eyeliner- dont do black that might make it look like you havent slept unless your skin is dark. get like a dark brown and ever so subtlely put it along your lash line from like, where the colored part of your eye starts when looking straight aheah do the oustide corner. dont start by your cornea. (i think thats what it is). then lighten it a little with a little smeary thing. hope this helps! good luck! have fun! remember the key is to do not too much!

start with the basics. powder, anything for the lips and eyeliner or mascara. start watching out for pictures in magazines and posters, look for a look you want ( of course one that would fit your features ) and experiment. Of course these experimentations should be done in private and when you're not planning to go out. Don't go out of the house with "new" make-up look that hasn't been fool proofed yet.

Always remember less is more. Don't go overboard with too much color. The basics i've said above are the only ones important.

Go to the mall and look at the sales ladies, find one with nice makeup and see if she will do a makeover. I like to try different looks and I try to find ladies who do their makeup in some way that I like and then have them teach me. You can also buy some products and have a play day at home. Keep in mind that fluorescent lights distort colors!

This is a link to a makeup tutorial on youtube.com. It is done by a professional makeup artist named Elke Von Freudenberg. She is kind of hard to understand, I had to turn the volume up really loud. There is a different video for each type of makeup (concealer, powder, blush, etc). It really helped me especially the blush and bronzer videos.
