in biological aspect, generally diffusion is a process of the spread of a solute in a solvent from higher concentration to lower concertration. . example, a piece of salt when we place into water after a few hour the water will be tasted salty. it is because the salt was diffused in water. Osmosis is always concern about solvent (water), i.e Osmosis is a process concern about the move of the water from higher potential to lower water potential via the semipermiable membrane. active transport is move of a sustance from lower concentration to higher concentration and energy is required in this process.
