I recommend going to grad school, honestly. I have a degree in Sociology & Anthropology, as well as an associate degree in Computer Management, and the job outlook sucks. I'm currently working part-time in a library to help with the bills. Master's degrees are where it's at, seriously. Higher pay too. I've been looking for a job for the past 2 months and I couldn't even get one as a secretary. I owe too much in student loans, or I would go to grad school or law school.

If you are going with a job search, the big internet sites don't really help much. Government jobs are highly competitive, but the USA site is usajobs.opm.gov. What you should do is get an internship or volunteer at a company or non-profit you think you may be interested in working for. It'll build up your resume and get you some contacts. I also did a year in Americorps, but the pay is extremely low and most of the time it turns into grunt work. Send your resume to places that interest you, whether they advertise an open position or not. Good luck.

If you are looking for a long-term, stable career with great benefits, consider searching positions available in state goverment. I live in WA in the capital city and there are many positions at the state where a sociology degree would be appropiate. As an example, the DSHS (Dept. of Social and Health Services) has many positions. Entry level pay is not significant, but over time, with raises and promotions, these positions can pay very well. My neighbor works for the DSHS here and earns around 70K per year. Hope this is helpful.

None of those are ineffective- English instructors at college have a good earnings and interesting, stimulating existence. English majors make good $ in pr, experience making plans, journalism and so on. there is also education severe college. Psychologists make a fortune- and the artwork is fairly interesting in case you want people- you want the MS, notwithstanding. Sociologists do study, grow to be social workers, college professors, learn corporation later and bypass company, or bypass into the human service field. criminal justice- nicely, you are able to noticeably a lot be a cop.
