my son in 1 1/2 and he's been sick a week now. coughing , pulling @ his ears and just plain grumpy but cuddly. I took him to the walk-in and the doc rushed me in/out said to come back in he's still not feeling better in a few days. (I do intend on finding a better doctor although its hard.)
we just got hit with super cold weather now and ive heard there are bugs/flus going around.
He's on amoxicillin and tempra. I know to go to a hospital if it gets worse as such, i m not looking for real life solustions here just suggestions

But what do you think i should do if the doctor just gives me another antibiotic? think he needs it?

My daughter just got tubes today. She has had five ear infections and is only six months old. This sounds alot like an ear infection. We have tried alot of different antibiotics. Ammoxicillin has never helped her. She was just on a good one you may suggest to your doctor, the generic name of it is Sulfatrim. It is manufactured by alpharma. It seemed to help and my daughter actually liked the taste of it so she doesn't spit it out like the other kinds. Of course if he gets worse go to the ER. Good Luck! I hope the little guy feels better. Hope this helps!

no Don't get any more antibiotics right now,Try some sweet oil warm it up and put a few drops in his ears. The Antibiotic will take car of his ear and maybe his cough.I give it another week and then if he is not better find a good Dr.Do you have a vaporizer>that will loosen the flem in his chest.Put some vicks liquid in it,you can buy these at wal mart and like the drug store. They have vicks baby rub for the chest but if you get that make sure when he gets up you wash it off real good because he could get real sick if he would go outisde with it on,it would open his pores up and that is not good for a young child.

antibiotic's totally have their place, but not for every day colds and ear infection, some time doctor's give these out for everything, because they think you want it, every time you use antibiotic it breaks done your immune system, so when some thing really big hits you will have a hard time fighting it off, save it for the emergency's. research it. you'll be quite surprised. antibiotics only helps a ear infection by a few days, they go away on there own in about 5-7 days.just get something for the pain

Put Vicks on his back, chest and bottoms of feet for the congestion.
You might be able to give him warm water with honey and lemon to sooth his coughs. I think there is a infants cold medicine that has a cough suppressant.
Keep him warm, cuddle him alot.
Make sure he has lots of fluids, as much as possible.
Try Debrox for his ears. It will clean them out so they can heal easier.
Usually antibiotics will only help with a bacterial infection and he can only take them for so long. Make sure he takes all that is prescribed to him so we don't get any mutating bugs going around.

Beware this year is supposes to be a bad year for pnuemonia, as long as he is drinking plenty of fluids and doesn't have a high fever it will hold him over for the doctor, if the antibiotic isn't working he may need a stronger one. try using a humidifier and some vicks rub to help loosen tings up. But if he gets to the point where he is wheezing and gasping for a breath take him to the hospital.

If you receive another antibiotic, be sure the doctor that treats him knows about the other medicines he is on. That way, there is no confusion. The trick with bacteria is finding the antibiotic that works best against it because bacteria develop resistance to drugs. If you get another antibiotic and the doctor is informed about his other meds, give it to him. It may be more effective.
