My divorce will be filed and final in a matter of weeks. While I am sad that the marriage did not work out (12 years), I am kinda excited about being single, dating and not having to answer to anyone but myself. Is that wrong?

It is not wrong to feel happy. However, it is quite sad that you and your partner did not live up to your vows to each other. Just try not to repeat all the mistakes you made in your marriage that brought it to an end. However, you will not find the dating scene out there as it used to be - you may have wishes you never got divorced.

But all the best!

Enjoy every moment of that excitement. You will go through some highs and lows so be sure and give yourself some time before getting serious again. And yes, the dating scene isn't the greatest but you can keep yourself busy with friends and activities.

There is nothing wrong with the way you are feeling!

Nope.. I was very happy the day I filed for mine and even more estatic the day it was finalized.. although I was also sad that it didn't work out because there was children involved but its worse to stay in a bad marriage just for their sake then to divorce and move on..

of course not. go out have fun. put yourself first. have a divorce party with your friends. but even though you are excited now, don't be surprised if you feel a little down when the divorce is actually final.

have fun and be happy being single.

God no! Good for you for getting out of a marriage that wasn't working, sounds like you gave it a good try. I always say why be miserable for another 12 years, not that your whole marriage was bad, but you know what I mean. Enjoy and live your life!

It's not wrong. I was excited about mine too (married 15 years), but theirs a sense of finality (that kicks you right in the as*) to the whole thing that you don't expect when you have the actual papers in your hands. I wish you the best of luck.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Your feelings say that you are excited and are ready to move on in your life. I was glad when my ex left. I had to kids and we had to start all over again. It felt kinda good to answer only to me. But after awile I was over all that and am now married again.

If you are leaving a bad marriage and aren't affecting your children in a bad way (or have none), you shouldn't feel guilty. If you threw away something just so you could do this then you should feel guilty, but only then.
