Accross the board women tend to outlive men. It is theorized that (I'm being entirely serious here)...
that the male is inherently weaker than the female. This theory rests on scientific evidence. The majory of miscarriages are MALE babies, female babies are miscarried at a lower rate.
As you can guess there are many hypotheses about why women outlive men. One I subscribe to for sure is that women are less afraid to see the doctor when they suspect something is wrong. It's part of our socialisation with the annual visits to the obgyn, the birth of babies, and so on. Comparitively speaking, men are less "complicated" creatures requiring minimum "maintenance" (they'll see the doctor only when it's really serious - and that could be too LATE). Women are also more apt to talk about how they are feeling - to share their concerns with other women (and thereby benefitting from the feedback). By contrast, men are more inclined to talk about football, etc, with other men (they haven't been socialised to be as verbally communicative). Yet another factor (that is starting to change) is that men smoke more and have correspondingly higher rates of heart disease and lung cancer.

Women have always been the ones to live longer. Generally women live a few years more than men.

Women tend to live longer on average, though that gap may be closing due to lifestyle changes such as more women smoking than was once the case and other high risk behaviors. The best guesses for women's comparative longevity are the slight protection estrogen gives the cardiovascular system and women's tendency to develop more extensive social connections-a good emotional support system has consistently been associated with better general health and thus longevity.

Well, I think on a global scale, men live longer because of countries in the middle east and africa, and even asia, where women are treated poorly for no good reason, but here in North America and select countries you guys outlast us by a good 5 years on average. But as long as you guys stay so beautiful, I don't need that extra five years anyway!

Women, because the presence of estrogen (up until menopause) helps to prevent heart attacks. The chance of men having heart attacks at younger ages is more present than women, and it isn't untill women go through menopause that the heart attack rates go up.
I don't know much else on the matter

i agree with Baba Yaga, he nailed it. Women live longer for the reasons he mentioned. i'm sure there are probably more, but think about it. if women could create, nurture, and give life within a year, why wouldn't they be the stronger gender and live longer.
i still believe dudes are here to help protect women, as life wouldn't continue without them. that's why we're dumb and play with guns and big bombs that go BOOM!

Average life expectancy (1989–91):
Male: 71.83
Female: 78.81
Probably because men only receive ~39% of health expenditure.
