If they had renewed or extended a contract with Beckham prior to his deal with LA Galaxy, they would have earned millions of dollars for player transfer fee. But because Beckham is a free agent in the summer, the Real Madrid does not get a penny. That is got to be a worst business transaction you can make.

From my understanding, Beckham decided not to sign with Real before going to Los Angeles. Real couldn't make him sign. Both put out offers and he chose LA.

Its better that they get him off the payroll like they did.

They've already milked him for pretty much whatever marketing revenue he is worth.

Football wise, with that fat paycheck he's getting every week, he's not even realistically half a Juan Roman Riquelme. If they got him on an extension, they would basically just be keeping a white elephant.
Real Madrid has got players that play his position and play it better. They won't miss him on the pitch, that's for certain.

Sure, they might miss out on a possible 7 million buck transfer recoup. But frankly speaking, what's 7 million to Real Madrid?

Anyway, there's no guarantee that a prospective buyer would step in with a favourable offer anytime soon while the value of the aging Beckham depreciates.
Beckham can apparently see that warming the bench at Real is going to hurt his pocket in the long run. He and his wife have the perfect opportunity to tap into the lucrative US market that they've been eyeing for some time.

No matter how you look at it, it was good business for both sides.

The thing is Real Madrid is not willing to give Beckham the amount of pitch time he wants. Beckham is not even on the main team for real madrid. That basically lead to Beckham not wanting to sign the new contract. Then this lets him hog all the money from LA Galaxy.

I don't even understand why Real want to pay so much for a substitute in the first place. I don't mean that they don't need beckham. There's so much room for improvement right now. The team looks worst and worst every game... They've lost almost all games they played last month.

To add to this Capello decided not to use Ronaldo fully after the argument he had with him... that just does not add to his value for the team right now... It's probably him they need to loose..

so well judging from that, they must be pretty stupid...

Just like someone has said already Real Madrid could not extend Becks contract without his consent and am sure he saw it coming that he was going to make so much money from this deal so he decided against anows if he agrees on another contract with real Madrid cos he has been on the bench for a while now and knows that he could be declared surplus to the club and be sold out he decided against the extension, its a good thing for him cos hes making a lot of money from the transfer I think its one of the most expensive signings of all time, its a record signing, and man it strikes me that there's so much of that money in the M L and yet the league is not having as much publicity as the English premiership or other likes of it in Europe.

Real's principle: Get the best. No matter what the cost!

And now that they are giving Beckham away without profit. They won't care! Even if they don't get a penny. But this is reality. Real will certainly still receive compensation or benefits from the move. Peace!

Beckham rejected a new contract from Real. Probably because he was not being played much by the manager.

Definitely they are stupid to let Becks go.Real madrid is now becoming a fallen Spanish Giant they are no longer the best team we used to know. The best they would have done is to keep Beckham because he has the ability to improve and change the game at any time.Good Luck Becks, show them that you are still the best and die hard Real.

real madrid is in a worst condition right now..they have few matches and they are conceeding too many goals ,cannavaro is out of form, strikers are not scoring..and yeah ronaldo beckham and cassano thingy...
real should get rid of ronaldo..as he has past his prime, WC 06 would prove to be his last major tourney, no more copa america no more WC...he is out of brazilian team...as for CL he is not a good performer either like raul...

cassano..the troublemaker is willing to leave his godfather..one should not wonder why...

beckham...the biggest mistake of real madrid...he was world class player back in Man Utd..what he has achieved at madrid ??

backham deal will haunt real madrid for years to come

i think real madrid are stupid cause they would have got $250 bucks from L.A galaxy but beckham didnt want to extand his contract at real madrid i think cause he was getting liitle game time under capello and capello i think does not like him and L.A GALAXY ONLY COULD AFFORD HIM CAUSE THERE BILLION OWNER OWNS 2 MORE MLS CLUBS AND THE STAPLE CENTER THATS Y L.A galaxy could afford him.
