I got a quite unique research paper in English I think. It's a report on abstract feelings, non-physical. I chose wonder. I am not quite the expert writer, so I'd like some starter phrases. I made one, but don't think it's good enough. If you think you got something better, you can tell me, I'll put you in as one of my sources. Anyways, here's mine:
Wonder. A unique feeling that inspires awe and more feelings with it. Wonders exist everywhere, but are perceived through the eyes of the viewer in which they are judged great or farce. "Wonders never cease as long as......".... That's all I got for now. Judge and discuss my ideas between yourselves and post help if you have any.

Pain? That'd be easier to write about with all these hundreds of people being killed a day. Sed ergo it must be a positive thing.

~And no, I'm just a beginner, not a writing professional.

It is fatuous to ask a question to someone who just asked you a question. I actually give a paper. And the definition thing is a new idea I thought of, which is why I asked this question, to get feedback on this supposedly-new writing style for me. It makes me angry when I read a paper that asks me back first. (e.g. I start reading a paper about the rock cycle. It starts off as: Have you ever thought where rock came form? Well, I don't know, I never thought where rock came from, EXCEPT WHEN I WENT LOOKING FOR A PAPER THAT JUST ASKED ME THIS DUMB QUESTION! Anger gone.. Just looking for feedback.

Very nice Flabbergasted, never saw that quote. Good contributions, good feedback. Here's what I'm thinking of making:
Wonders exist everywhere, but are perceived through the eyes of the beholder in which they are judged great or farce. "It was through the feeling of wonder that men now and at first began to philosophize." Ergo... That's my revised edition. Your set-up is good, but I think I might stray too far off the point with that much information and triple the required amount of pages.(Which teachers don't like, at least I think..) Overall I like it a lot.

this is a strange research paper; but i guess you can mince that definition out of the text in it's current form. to me this paper should focus around the wonder that sparks philosophy, science and religion. i would start with this quote by Aristotle, "it was through the feeling of wonder that men now and at first began to philosophize." from here i would discuss wonder in an embellished broad sense then drop how philosophy's dichotomous split with Plato and Aristotle created science and religious-like thoughts which have carried over to the contemporary aspects of today. naming Plato and how he wondered at the sun and the form of good (God) and Aristotle and his wonderment with what he could see (the material world).

so basically this is how i would set up the paper:

I. intro
-philosophy
-religion
-sciene

II philosophy
-philosophy theories ideas sparked by wonder
--plato (allegory of the cave; theory of the forms)
--aristotle (material world basis)

III religion "wonder is the basis of worship" Thomas Carlyle
--tie with plato and the sun
--religious figures are tied with wonderment (cannot touch/see must wonder)
--(add another idea if so)

IV science
--filling in gaps wonder material world (mechanics of it)
--enistein/astronomy

V conclusion
--recap and broaden out in a general sense. end with another quote or parphared quote like "men love to wonder and that is the seed of our science" (ralph waldo emerson or one by einstein "he who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead;his eyes are close."

i would close with the second and incorporate the first somewhere or place that in the beginning instead. also, i'd probably leave the last bit off the Einstein quote.

p.s if you're going to use this idea as is, i do not advise that because it is very sloppy. i did this because letting you revise it yourself would make it more yours than mine.

Please don't start a paper with a definiton. Ask a question. Example:

Do you know that feeling of awe you get when you behold the amazing spectacle of the Grand Canyon; or when you gaze at the incomprehensible vastness of the universe and contemplate your part in space and time? That abstract feeling is called wonder.

See what I mean? You are giving the reader a visual to use while reading. My grammer is not great so correct it if I'm wrong. Writing took me a long time to master. The more you write(and read) the better you will become.

With no real offense and having been through HOMEWORK with three of my own children, I suggest you're slacking,to ask for help.

That said however, the context can very well be much about your reasons for even asking.

Why don't you change from wonder to pain because you can associate more information and demonstrate Earth's pain, pain between the human races, pain of death ect... Hope the paper is your best either way.

Abstract feelings might be difficult, bcuz their hard to describe. what about "using anger as a means of motivation?" hope this helps
