1. Injuries
2. Coach Challenge
3. Official Review
4. Timeouts
5. Half Time
6. Commercial Breaks

I love how long it takes. But it lasts a few hours because of half times and time outs and the time it takes to re-set the lines before each play and challenges and things like that.

OK, first to the people who have answered and said the game is too short, you've obviously never played before. A longer game would get very sloppy if there were 4 quarters of 30 minutes, for example. Players would be tired and it wouldn't be very fun to watch.
To answer the asker's question, there are so many events that stop the clock that it stretches the game to around 3 hours.

Just 4 quarters each 15 minutes. Not worse than any other sport really. Baseball is slower, soccer is sloooow (like watching grass grow), cricket (played in England, Australia etc.) is like watching paint dry. So American football is more fun to watch. Get involved!

It is not long and we keep track of the time so players know how much time is left. Clock stops for various reasons and there is action throughout the game

Because we aren't used to things going so quickly.. unlike your european women who are quite used to that phenomena..

yeah soccer is sooooooooooooooooooooo much better watching the world cup games go to shoot outs.. hahahahaaha why even play the game just have a shoot out at the beginning....
