this song talkes about a little boy that would go and see this old black man that would play songs for him and he would get money for him so he could drink and how his mom would whip him for seeing the old man but he would go and see him any way any way i think it was one of those southern rock groups but which one?

Ballad of Curtis Lowe by Lynyrd Skynyrd .This song was written about a real person they knew when they were kids and they spelled the name Lowe because it is the Jewish way of spelling.Lynyrd Skynyrds name was taken from their high school gym teacher.
