she is only " ugly " because of her dorky glasses, braces, hairy eyebrows, NO SENSE of fashion, and her PONCHO lol
but yeah i just got my new covergirl magazine and america ferrera is beautiful!

No Ugly Betty isnt ugly at all. Shes like nerdy, awkward and geeky cause of her glasses, braces and they clothes she wears. Betty is a plain jane cause she wears no make-up and does nothing to fix herself up. All Betty needs is a makeover. If she gets a stylist to make her over get rid of the glasses and the braces i bet she could be really attractive. Im a fan of the show and I really wish the show would give BETTY a good makeover where she could knock everyones socks off. I would love to see her boss Daniels reaction with a new Makeover for Betty.

Ugly Betty is so funny. She is so much more prettier than the hotties who are complete (fill in the blank). She is very pretty on the inside and makes some of the beautiful ones look downright mad dog mean ugly.

No. I don't always like her clothes but that doesn't make her ugly. She doesn't fit the "perfect image" that people are always trying to achieve which is what makes her beautiful!!! Its also probably where the ugly comes from in "Ugly Betty".

No! And when they were going through the auditions to find this pig before filming, they would never dare tell some poor young lady that she has the part 'cause she has the looks! It could effect her confidence for life.
What they do is clever! They choose someone normal and make her ugly using clever make-up artists and props.
But if they did choose the ugliest witch in the audition room, I would love to be there as a fly on the wall to see her face expression. Now that would be entertainment!

No, she is more geeky. She is not ugly, her style is ugly. She'd look gorgeous if she had a makeover and got rid of the braces and glasses. HTH : )

nope...ugly betty is not at all ugly (american version)...infact shes pretty. i live in india...i saw the indian version.....Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin....even there the original actress Mona Singh is really pretty

A few of my friends and I were having this same discussion and no, she isn't ugly. She's fat, and they added braces which look ridiculous but she isn't ugly. The should have found a truly ugly person to play this role,

i dont think shes ugly, she just doesnt wear the right clothes. if she were to be fashionable, she would look really good. and get the eyebrows plucked.
