Both because when you deny an experience you have either encountered or created and you do not want to admit to it,, you deny and exaggerate just to get out of what you do not want to admit too. Peace and happiness to you all.

That question is easy. Denial is much more dangerous, exaggeration is just an elaboration of that which is perceived while denial is giving up of what is truth. Come to think of it both can be dangerous. Its more of a matter of of "right action" than it is anything else.
Of course the one that calls itself spiritual is a perceptive. It comes down to the personal in this regard (transpersonal reality is much different). I'd deny the conventional truth anytime and stand firm on my transperesonal understanding,

Frankly, I think that denial has been exaggerated for a long time now ! Truly, every pop-psychologist in the country and that's almost everyone who has heard the "denial" excuse tends to use it themselves.
"your wife is sleeping with another man because she is in denial about having been molested by some unknown family member when she was a child." (truth is she's just trash)
Same crap about drinking, drugging, wife beating, stealing etc, etc, etc.
Denial has been grossly exaggerated.
Nobody is really in denial of the truth. these people are simply liars.

Denial.
Cause the exaggeration in religious books do little harm.
It is the zealots and extremists who live in denial that do the most damage.

Of course exaggeration !
Corrective reversal (upon sanctity of deeper acceptance dawning/realisation) would be more difficult in case of exaggeration, and more hurting to the ego !

both!
the denial of being over exxagerated is dangerous because people will not believe whatever you say whether actually they are already true.
the over exxageration of being in denial is also dangerous because just the same, no one will believe your story even if they are true
