so, she broke into my apt and stole a bunch of my bloodthinner meds and started taking massive amounts of them and then bought a gun and told me it was either her or me and then she ended up in the hands of the police and spent a week in a mental hospital and then got out....during that week she was in, I moved 50 miles from that particular city and tried to start a new life...graduated from college...but still have fears about a new relationship....how do I get over that sort of situation and trust women again?

Give yourself some time before you get into another relationship...Also get to know someone a lot better before calling them girlfriend...Time makes the psycho come out to play...

First is to realize, that she had a mental disorder and that it was nothing that you did. She needs help and hopefully she will get it. Second, dont run into a relationship so fast again. Find some women for awhile that you can just be friends with. No pressure. This will give you time to be yourself again and start to trust. At the first sign of any relationship being unhealthy, you have to be able to move on. Im not talking about normal couple stuff of spats and diagreements, but stalking, stealing, questioning your every move. Big red flags, and time to move on.

The simplest thing would have been to get a restraining order against her, rather than move. You still can if you're living in the same state. If she violates it she goes to jail and it's really that easy. No-one should have to put up with that kind of behaviour, male or female. That she is nuts is beside the point. Or maybe exactly the point. Have her committed. If it were a man acting this way toward a woman, you can bet the farm he'd be imprisoned. Why not her too?

Sounds like a very bad experience. Move on, lay low and maybe you should have moved farther then 50 miles away. Hope she doesn't read your question and find you. Watch for the mental signs with the next one.

It will take some time. You did the right thing moving though. Have faith. We are NOT all alike. She had mental problems beyond your control. Take heart that she is getting help now.
Once she gets the help she needed she shouldn't bother you. MOVE ON, and don't look back.

Wow that was a little scarey. You have to remember this was one woman and just because she was psycho doesn't mean the next one will be. She did this. Get to know the next girl really good, don't rush it. Best of luck.

50 Miles might not be far enough away......Either get a restraining order, or move farther away. Personal protection measures may also be in order. Good luck!
