Has anyone spent a lot of time living in Bar Harbor? What is the town like?

I am considering a professional move there, and wanted to know from current and former residents what your thoughts are. I like places that have a sense of community, and a quirky culture. Appreciate your thoughts on these aspects; also cost of living (for a thrifty person) , entertainment, food, etc. Thanks!
