it's not. If people liked equality, WHY DO WE COMPETE IN TOURNAMENTS TO SEE THE STRONGEST, to see who the SMARTEST in spelling bees, or watch hollywood to see who the most beautiful man or woman is? Why do we compare Picasso to Remebrant IF IT'S SO EQUAL AND THE SAME?

The question is Why do people say everyone is equal?

Because people really like excuses, they don't want to deal with any of that stuff. It is a good point, people are just lame! =] =]

I've never heard that phrase used by anyone until today. "EVERYONE IS EQUAL"

I have however heard the phrase "EVERYONE IS CREATED EQUAL". Which to me means the same as the saying "THE SAME WIND BLOWS ON US ALL". Your result depends on the set of your sail...

When we compare adults, what we're comparing is what people have made of themselves. For everyone to stay equal requires socialism to take hold. That's what Fidel Castro did in Cuba - he made everybody equal. His soldiers entered small shops with baseball bats and broke everything. That made everyone equal - nobody had anything, all had zero.

To promote a philosophy of "EVERYONE IS EQUAL" is foolishness. It would mean "Nobody run any faster than the slowest kid in the class", "Everybody read at the same pace - equal to the slowest reader in class", "Nobody produce any more than the laziest person in society", This is the opposite of what the free market, capitalist society teaches - "EVERYBODY DO THEIR BEST, AND GET PAID ACCORDINGLY"

I thank God every morning that I was born in the USA, who's founding principals include the free pursuit of happiness, and the freedom to worship God - and is completely against the concept of "Everyone is equal".

you are taking things out of context. Under the constitution of the US, all are created equal - that means that we are given the same rights and liberties under the government. All of the children are able to get an education, people can practice their own religion, at age 18 they can vote.

Are we all equal, heck no, as you point out, we seek out the best and the brightest and try to emulate them

It more has to do with social status. It just means regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, or religion should have same the rights.

Competition is something that occurs between certain individuals or groups.

the term "equality" is just a buzz word for the left to pit americans against each other through class warfare.

let's face it. we can't all be leaders and we can't all be followers. the world needs both.

but we're living in this "me me me" culture where everyone has this entitlement mentality and think they deserve things they didn't work for.

total equality will never happen. ever.

The phrase EVERYONE IS EQUAL means that everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, sexual preference (and every which way you can discriminate), is an EQUAL and should be treated as same.

I take it to mean that everyone has (or should have) equal opportunity. Equal opportunity doesn't mean equal results. It only means that you have the same right to try.

I think it means everyone deserves equality in treatment for who they are as human beings. There are always going to be people who can do something better than someone else.
