well in playing guitar i would put in order from first to last, g n r, iron maiden, aerosmith, def lepard, and motley crue. as far as lyrics guns and roses would be the most popular with songs like "welcome to the jungle" and "walk this way". i think motley crue would be the less talented one of all. iron maiden is considered english heavy metal and have some killer songs, def leppard is an english hard rock band with a lof of history, aerosmith , gnr and motley crueare both american hard rock which are more popular with teens. hmmm ok, with lyrics i would go with leppard and guitar riffs between iron maiden and gnr

Iron Maiden. Their lyrical power comes from their evocation of historical events and mythological tales. Both of which encompass human experience and the symbolic interactions ( mythology) that resurface in every generation throughout history. Thier riffs, though not "heavy" or played with "scooped mids" like currently popular medal bands definately evoke thier lyrical themes by being quite frenetic and eccentric. More important than riffs; the maiden song structure employs well timed changes and the concept of "tension and release" to build interest/suspense/resolution. I think the other bands listed pandered to popular taste a bit too much as they "matured".
Caveat: i'm actually a prog fan.

Oh geez. I'm so sick of the answers to questions like these.

GUNS N' ROSES DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE! BEING A GUNS N' ROSES FAN DOES NOT MAKE YOU COOL, OK?

There, now that I got that out of my system, I'll go with Def Leppard, and Aerosmith. Both are brilliant, unique, and interesting to listen to, and both attract a wide variety of fans.

I'd go with Aerosmith, Dream On is one of their best. But as for guitar riffs I'd have to go with Guns n' Roses simply because of Slash and his amazing abilities.

Well , Ironically Aerosmith went wimpy when they sobered up , Mick Mars and Slash were sometimes sloppy players, and Def Leppard was never the same after Pete Willis left the band (i can hear the "Pete who?!"'s coming), so i vote MAIDEN!

Have to go with Aerosmith due to the quantity.

G & R were a flash in the pan with one album. Great album, but only one, vs. like 23 for Areosmith.
