It is supposed to explode into a red giant in only 5 billion years, we have that long to figure something out as an alternative. Please everyone get to work and start thinking.

Yes the sun is a star. And yes stars do die. But the sun isnt going to die for a while. If it does people would freeze to death because there wont be any heat from the sun.

The sun will 'die' in about 5 billion years, but long before that happens the sun will become too hot for life on earth. The sun is heating up by about 30% every billion years. In another billion years it will be too hot to support life.

As the sun dies, it will slowly swell up into a red giant. As it expands, its outer atmosphere will eventually reach Earth's orbit, searing away our atmosphere and eradicating life as we know it. This will take place in about 5 billion years or so, so we do have a bit of time to plan. I personally was thinking of moving to Jupiter, but they don't allow pets, so I'm still in the market.

when stars die they explode....but no need to worry that's about5 billion years from now and if earth isn't melted or blown up in the process the we will drift off in space with our inertia keeping us going but everyone will probably be dead by then because it will be super cold without the sun we might end up orbiting some other thing that is , if we don't blow up.....

the sun is getting smaller. and when the sun dies out because it's made up of gases,we will have all died out long after because our earth is getting smaller and we won't have enough oxygen to breath and we will end up dying.
