Don't you think that we are just fighting a faceless enemy? I mean, Saddam is gone, but now we are still stuck in Iraq fighting. But fighting who?
If you really think about it, our "enemy" is a faceless and innumerable one. We are fighting an enemy that is too broad.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that we are fighting an enemy that stretches not only across the Middle East, but across the world. It seems to me we are trying to take on the entire anti-American population. Anti-Americans are inside Iraq, but they are also coming from outside Iraq
I'm finding it difficult to get my point across, but I guess what I'm trying to say is: who are we fighting, why, and what will be the outcome?

I'm not spewing crap forth, "Carolinatinpan". I'm just asking about something that I have a view on, but am still confused about. A question that takes no sides, nor has "sides".

Our troops are fighting a number of different enemies in Iraq. These enemies include Sunni insurgents who want to regain the power they once held along with Saddam Hussein, also foreign terrorists who have come into Iraq from Syria, Jordan, etc. (these are Al-Quieda and affiliated groups). The last group we are attempting to fight are terrorists sent by Iran to assist in killing U.S. troops and innocent people with highly advanced roadside bombs.
You are correct in saying that this is a world war that covers vast areas of the globe. The enemy is faceless and difficult to find because they hide among and behind innocent civilians. They do not wear uniforms and do not abide by any laws of war. That is why information gathering, intelligence, and interrogation is so critical. It is not anti-Americans that we are fighting, we are waging war against radical Muslims who want to spread their faith and power and create an "Islamic Empire" ruled by their version of Islam. This would be similar to the Taliban rule in Afghanistan before we kicked them out. The outcome is unknown at this point. We must do all we can to prevent them from getting a nuke and we must be relentless and do what is necessary to defeat them.

Iraq has a very new protection force lately. regardless of horrid casualties, volunteer numbers are severe. they have a protection force concentrated more desirable typically than not on counter insurgency - they have quite some more desirable typically than not-donated tanks, yet no artillery (boo!). they have a small army - all boats, one battalion of infantry. they have a small Air rigidity, too - no strike ability, basically shipping and reconnaissance. they are also supplemented through the police, which have their own mild mechanized battalions. All in all, the protection force of Iraq is exceptionally a lot only a colour of what it became once.

We are fighting everyone. The Sunnis want to kill the Shittes, the Shiites wanna kill the Sunnis, and we are stuck smack in the middle with both sides wanting to kill us as well.
There are no good guys in this mess. Regardless which side takes control of Iraq at the end of the day, be it Sunnis, be it Shiites, be it Kurds, or be it the puppet government America has set up Iraq will be right back where it started. With a dictatorship in charge. None of them are angels.

Unfortunately, we are in Iraq because G. Bush wanted to create an historical legacy which would tell the world that G. Bush democratized the Middle East.
We are not fighting, our soldiers are defending themselves while the Iraqis are killing each other for their religious beliefs and their oil.

You need to educate yourself. Don't spew forth the crap you hear from Liberals. Study the issue.Listen to all media. And all sides. The enemy we face in Iraq is Iran and Syria. The Muslim extremists who want to control all of the oil. In doing so they cripple our economy and we become weak enough for them to defeat us. That is their plan .They plan it to take at least 50 years. We cannot win this new kind of war in a couple of years.
