First: how about going with Amie? Tell your teachers, parents and siblings to call you Amie. Then tell like 2 or 3 close friends to get it started around others, and it'll catch on! Also, I have a name that was always made fun of. Although not as unique as yours, it was very uncommon. And very associated with a certain lingerie shop!! All my childhood, I heard "Victoria, what's your secret?" I'd get very bugged because to this day, new people ask me what my secret is. So mature! Anyway, you are obviously very mature, so I suggest you just give some smart-allecky answer like "yeah, my name is a very beautiful purple stone, and your name? umm, the same as millions of other girls." In the meanwhile, make purple your big color--and amethyst your jewelry of choice. Buy a necklace that's very multi-purpose, like a choker, and maybe some earrings. Wear the choker every day and make it clear: you're Amithisste!

I share your feelings, but it really is a beautiful name and you'll learn to love it. Good luck!

EDIT: check out babynamegenie.com/baby-middle-names/index.php. Type in your first name and last name and they'll give you a middle name. I looked it up minus the last name and they suggested many, but my favorite middle name was Amithisste Trista, which flows beautifully. If your that concerned, I say check it out!

No. It is a very beautiful name, and rare, just like an Amethyst. It sounds like an undiscovered Greek goddess in mythology. They are probably just extremely jealous because they have an every-day name, that five other people in their class have. Ignore them, Amithisste is a very lovely name. It gives a sense of elegance and mystery, so forget them. The name is simply unforgettable. Don't worry about it, some day, they'll grow up, and not like their normal names.

Be proud of your name. How would you like having a name that everyone else has & when the teacher calls out your name, 3-4 other girls in the same class say "what?" That's how it was for me in school. Having the name Crystal in the late 70's and through out my childhood when it was such a popular name was horrific for me. I hated having such a common name. I don't care now, but back then I hated it. I think you have a beautiful name. I love it. Don't pay any attention to what people say. Love yourself!!!

I have never thought of Amithisste as a name but it is BEAUTIFUL! Your parents chose a unique, (but not weird), pretty name for you. As you get older I'm sure you'll start to appreciate it. At least you're not one of 6 Jessicas in your class. But if its bothering you just shorten it to Amy. Thats also a pretty name. Trust me it will grow on you. Be thankful your parents gave you such a beautiful name!

You have a pretty name! But if you are really bothered by this, try shortening it to just Ami. My spouse doesn't have a middle name either.

Trust me, I think it is very pretty. You have a very pretty name. Thank God you didn't get stuck with Erika Drakely Davis like I did. How much plainer could it get? You are lucky to have a name like that, because it is pretty and unusual.

I think its a very unique name be proud of it knowing you probably will not meet another person with your name...That's what makes it special plus your parents must have put a lot of thought into naming you.!!!!!!!!
