Divide both sides by 4:

(x - 2)ˉ² = 4

Flip both sides to get rid of the negative exponent:

(x - 2)² = 1/4

Take the square root of both sides...REMEMBERING TO TAKE BOTH THE POS AND NEG ROOTS:

x - 2 = ± 1/2

Add 2 to both sides:

x = 2 ± 1/2

So x = 2 + 1/2 = 5/2 ... or also 2 - 1/2 = 3/2.

Check both:

4(5/2 - 2)ˉ² = 4(1/2)ˉ² = 4(2)² = 4(4) = 16....check!

4(3/2 - 2)ˉ² = 4(-1/2)ˉ² = 4(-2)² = 4(4) = 16....check!

4(x-2)^ -2 = 16
=4/4x^2=16
4=16*4x^2
4=64x^2
4/64=x^2
1/16=x^2
x= 1/4.. i got a different answer
