you'd work in the Obstetrics/gynecology area...but here's all the info you'd need to know on the government's Occupational Outlook Handbook...I linked it to the physician's area for you

ER docs work in hosp all of the time along with most pathologists, radiologists, and sometimes oncologists. A radiologists job to me seems most interesting as they take care of various special procedures in surgery O.R. etc, outside of reading xrays all the time. A good radiologist is a life saver for many people. Also radiologists are not very often called into the hospital unplanned like other types of docs. Most all other docs have own private practice and see patients in the hospital daily. Scrubs docs seem more like resident doctors (students) in training tho I have only seen show a few times. ER docs are always at the hosp and generally see no private patients nor have a private practice. As far as I am concerned a doctor who works in the hospital has a better quality of life than one in own practice. They are not constantly paged every moment at every hour like most other specialists who are in private practice. OB/GYN has one of highest malpractice insurance premiums to pay. Physician such as dermatology have a decent income yet not on call all of the time.
You may also at one point opt to work for a large group practice or HMO where your on call schedule is not as frequent and disruptive to home life.
By the way, fun is a TV show. Real life it is interesting, demanding, challanging, stressful, political, and when you take your 3 or 4 week vacation it is time for the fun.

Working with sick, diseased, cut up, broken up, dieing, people and families is rarely fun. Doctors have a hard job as does nurses but doctors can be millionaires wihtin 5 year sor they are not very smart doctors.
Most hospital doctors in large towns average over 250 grand a year. Many interns do their internship(I guess they still do them) in small cities taking less pay a few years but less stress, less danger and a better chance at setting up a rewarding practice in an area they can enjoy working in.
YOur average doctor make swell over 500,000 a year in private practice if he/she is in a good practice and smart.

As a Doctor you could work at one or more hospitals and even choose to have your own parctice. Or you could just focus on your practice.

Doctors that are Interns(first years fresh from college/uni) don't earn squat. Residents(also called Registrars in some Commonwealth countries) earn enough to live off of. It is specialist doctors/consultants/attending physicians who earn the big bucks.

Hospitals esp. private hospitals tend to pay doctors based on how much business they bring to the hospital. E.g hospital executives tend to love orthopedic surgeons because they bring in the highest revenue to hospitals.

Maybe you want to rethink your career choice. Choosing your future because it looks fun on a fake TV show is not a smart idea.
