Holy crap it's jock itch. Dry carefully, wear boxer shorts, and use antifungal powder in the morning and cream at night.

Well see a dermatologist first and foremost. But anyhow, its probably jock itch and if you scratched it through your clothing or otherwise, it will be raw until it heals. But using a washcloth and scrubbing with plenty of deodorant/anti-bacterial soap will clean the area and give you some "scratch" relief without making the area sore.
You can also buy jock itch powder from the drug store off the shelf. You want to get any brand that contains Tolnaftate and it works WONDERS for the itching and the discomfort. Sometimes you might have to tape a piece of gauze down there to keep that area aerated as you go through the day of either sitting down or walking.
I had that issue myself where it started on one side and I was constantly going through the vicious cycle from extreme itching to extreme soreness and everything inbetween. And then sometimes the fold in the crotch would feel sticky or semi-moist and the longer I ignored it, the worse it got. Eventually it spread to the other side. Once I started to address the issue, it eventually cleared up.

Not nasty at all. Just happened to come to that part of your skin this time. Simple solution. Do it for at least 4-6 days. Will clear after day 3. Stop itching after day 3
Try cotton and peroxide when you are at home so that you can go free (it you know what I mean) Do this on and off or as much as you feel you the urge to scratch.
Peroxide WILL NOT BURN! It should neutralize the itch and fade the rash. Just feels COLD.
When you wash as much as you and itch as much as you do, you are cause the problem to get worse. You are spreading it just as you would lotion . . . .a lotion rash.
So for now, a CREAM will just make it spread too. Must neutralize the situation first.
See that wasn't so bad. Ahhhhhhh relief.
Good Luck, Doc

It's not STD so I wouldn't worry. Now it possible with your jock strap that you sweat more on that side. I would try placing baby powder on your groin before playing sports, this way it would absorb some sweat. If this doesn't work then I would go and consult a physician and ask him if he can recommend anything for it. I don't think it's anything serious so wouldn't worry too much about it.

All these answers are good in their own way I would also suggest you see a doc. You may have a condition called Chlamydia Trachomonisis, this is an infection that is fairly common but in most men causes no symptoms or problems, but now and again it can errupt as a rash or an STD. It is common and easily treated with creams and/or tablets.
If it is Chlamydia it will not resolve on its own and it is possible to pass it on to your sexual partner, if this is female then the long term consiquences for her may be detrimental to pregnancy and could in very rare circumstances lead to hepatic disease and death.

Sounds Like Sweat rash, Prickly heat, goes by many names. 1st try changing soaps to something nonallergenic, like plain dove. no scents, nothing extra in it. Also, change the soap your washing your clothes with. Plain tide, no scents nothing extra, or look for something that says non-allergenic on the box. Also, some Gold's Bond powder works miracles for these kinds of things. Available most everywhere. If those do not work, than you are best served by going to a dermatoligist.

Try some BOOM, Tough Actin' Tinactin on that Jock Itch!
What is it?
Jock itch is a fungal infection of the groin and upper thighs. Lesions caused by jock itch can extend from the crease between the inner thigh and pelvis, over the adjacent upper inner thigh, and into the anal area.
* The penis and scrotum are seldom affected
* Lesions usually appear as a rash with defined, elevated edges
* Symptoms include itching, chafing and burning
How’d I get it?
Jock itch occurs when the groin area becomes sweaty, allowing fungi to build up. It can also crop up through a transfer of athlete’s foot, or from contact with clothing, bedding and towels of infected individuals.
How do I get rid of it?
* Wash and dry the infected area
* Apply a thin layer of Tinactin® Jock Itch Cream twice a day (morning and night) or as directed by your doctor
* If infection covers a large area, try Tinactin® Jock Itch Powder Spray
* Continue treatment for two weeks, even if symptoms disappear, to ensure a complete cure
* If condition persists, consult your doctor
How do I keep it from coming back?
* Wear clean cotton underwear and loose fitting pants
* Keep your groin area dry and perspiration-free
* If you have athlete’s foot, avoid using towels that have come into contact with the infected area
* When getting dressed, put on socks before underwear

You're going to laugh, but I am serious.
Go to the store and go to the diaper aisle. You're looking for something called Desitin ointment. Try that for a couple of days, very lightly, and I bet you'll be all set. That stuff absolutely slays rashes.

That's not uncommon. It's kind of a fungus thing--jock strap itch. You can get some cream at the Rite Aid or Walmart. Look in the anti-itch area. I think one brand is Lotrimin.

most likely the area is too clean and all of the good bacteria that heals the area is being washed away. Try putting vasoline on the area after you dry it off throughly. This should take away some of the itching and irritation. It could also be the underwear your wearing and the laundry detergent as well. Feel better soon :)
