flagellents were religious frauds during the bobonic plague that said they could cure people through religious cleansing. They fled to Italy after the brits found out. There was and still is no cure for the bobonic plague. The only thing that stopped it, was quarantine and not enough people left to spread it. 1/3 of london was infected and died! There were large areas where there simply were no people left for the virus to spread.
