Army seargent here who has been to Iraq two times.
Yes, the majority of Americas military is republican.
The majority of the military would tell you that the war in Iraq is going great and that they are all for it.
But.......
That majority is slipping. Fast.
Technically active duty soldiers are not allowed to say anything bad about a mission, about our leadership, about the President, about the war in general. This is why it seems like the military is 100% for the war in Iraq. They are not.
I am not. I am a democrat. I must respect President Bush as my commander in chief. But the second i take my uniform off i am free to speak against him.

No surprise there. If you served in the military, you would know that the media is off limits. the military has information officers who are trained to talk to the media. If the media asked a soldier how his dinner was and the soldier said "I've had better steak at the Outback", the media would report that the military is feeding the troops rancid meat. Besides that, from what I have seen in the last five years, the media sure doesn't want to report on anything good being accomplished in Iraq. So, I think a media blackout is in order. Maybe one of the things the administration did wrong was letting the media do any reporting from Iraq at all. We the people don't have a "need to know" whats going on in Iraq. All we need is weekly updates on the progress. What the heck was going on in Germany in the 1930"s anyway? WW2 didn't really get blasting until 1940. There probably wasn't a lot of press covering the first blitzkreig anyway. I think maybe the military doesn't want the insurgents to find out exactly what our military is doing.

Because many of our troops are young and don't always think through what they're saying. They may end up leaking classified information directly to the press before they've even realized what they just said. Many units aren't even allowed to tell their family members where they are stationed in Iraq or any information at all about missions. This isn't just another excuse for ticked off liberals to start comparing America to Nazi Germany, there actually is decent thought behind this decision and it is in the troop's best interest to stay away from the media.

Senator Obama visited the troops at Walter Reed wellbeing middle final month; and at the same time as in Kuwait, Afghanistan, an Iraq on his middle East State branch circulate to. The Pentagon curtailed his circulate to at the same time as in Germany. In as plenty; the protection stress and veterans have given Obama of grade B+, while McCain garnished D as a grade. apparently they watch the information and save up with the balloting information of the Senate and want helping the GI Webb bill, while McCain did no longer even look and vote.

Because it will break the psychological illusion the media has created.
This is to who said it could leak classified information, you mean like how the media talked about only 5% of our cargo being examined at ports? Or how illegal immigrants are coming over the border?
The two things described above were republican and democrats trying to shift the American view away from the War in Iraq. Neither of those problems have been fixed.
I would rather the media be open about everything and not be censored or biased.

Troops aren't supposed to speak to the media ...period. Much as I sense this isn't what you were fishing for, you are wrong. Police officers are under the same understanding. Why do you suppose there are public information officers? Who in their right mind would want to be in Iraq unless they signed up and felt that what they are doing is worthwhile? Mumblings such as this are helping nobody but the Trolls here.

Here's a couple of thoughts:
1 - The media can and does take things out of context.
2 - Why give the enemy ANY information?
