Most of the European Blackdog spirits will leave you in peace as long as you don't touch them or yell at them (the people who did so were said to either end up dead or have parts of their bodies blackened, shrivelled and crippled).
This dog vision seems to be different though. A good friend of mine had waking dreams where a black presence or a black figure sat on the end of his bed and he was too frightened to be able to move. He finally was able to tell the figure to leave him alone (it's debatable to me if this spirit was really malevolent or was simply a dead friend/relative or spirit guide and his religious background clothed it in the guise of devils and such).
You could try asking the dog to leave or you could ask your guides, guardians and teachers to deal with this problem for you. Before you go to sleep, quiet yourself and ask/pray (depending on your background) for this to be dealt with.
I hope that this helps you somewhat,
Cheers,

if he is just sitting there, what is he hurting.
he could be protecting you. in Celtic beliefs, black is the color of death, and death is associated with very strong protections and new beginnings.
in Native American teachings Black is the color of strength with the totom of the bear. and is also known for very strong protections.
maybe dispelling him is not the way to go.

Lilith??? Well, black dogs can be harbingers of evil but usually they are just Man's best friend.
Consult with your Priest, minister or Rabi. If possible, have your room blessed. Douse it with Holy Water.

And he placed His hand upon the head of a dog, and said, "Your
Brothers and Sisters in fur are your Brothers and Sisters in truth. They
are in your care, and in your hands. Treat them with kindness, and that
kindness will be returned to you a thousandfold. To those that give
themselves to be eaten by you offer thanks, and be grateful to them for
your sustenance."
