Pack lots of sunscreen. You can buy it at the resorts but it is expensive and the selection is not great. Also bring a digital camera and some way to record other people's email addresses. We tried to find a note pad there for that purpose and never were successful. You will meet new and fun people and will want to swap pictures and greetings with them.
Also, many resorts require a nice set of clothes to eat at some of their restaurants so bring one along. Bring dollar bills also. You will want to tip the staff and make some small purchases. It is not appreciated if you go off the resorts in bathing attire so bring street clothes for that.
Many people bring things like school supplies, over the counter medical supplies, etc. to give to the Jamaicans. That country is in dire poverty and any such items are treasured. The resorts are used to receiving these things and will get them to the right people.

1 or 2 swim suits, pair of shorts, t-shirt and as very light dress, it is hot and you will not need jeans of any type. A good pair of walking shoes, socks and a pair of sandles for the sun dress. A pair of cotton slacks and top for the evening is fine. Might get a bit cool at night, maybe a light sweater for the plane.
I use to just carry a back pack but with the new rules and regs, I'm not sure.

more then 2 bikinis for sure, it's very humid there so it can take a long time to get them dry again. More t-shirts or tops, it's hot so you would probably want to change clothes 2-3 times a day. No heels needed in Negril. One coctail dress for the night out in The Jungle .

In addition to your essentials, bring gifts for the people there. Hard candies are appreciated, people give them to each other as a gesture of friendship. Go to the dollar store and get tools, sewing supplies, school supplies, pens, radios, lotion, cosmetics, etc. All these are appreciated.
