I have to do a this Civil War project for my AP US History class, and I need to know something for one part I am working on. What were some products or services available during the Civil War era?

I already have the camera, player piano, and typewriter, but I need one more.

I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out!

Wasn't the bullet as we know it invented during the civil war? Also the Ironclad warship.

How bout lead musket balls. They were called minis, after some French dude. Also there was the first non-wood warships called ironclads. Also the first sinking by a submarine was during the civil war., All kinds of crap was first during the Civil War

Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin on March 14, 1794. It was still being used during the Civil War.

The Printing Press - It was invented in Germany by the goldsmith and printer Johannes Gutenberg in ca. 1447.

submarine, telegraphs for communication on the battle field (and sometimes intercepted the enemies plans for battle so they could try and counter their offense).

women nurses
better weapons-->remington, patented riffle/shotgun or something like that.
ironclad ships
better railroad/trackage
blacks could be part of the army (54th mass infantry)

that is all i can remember. i am in us ap history too and we did the civil war a little while ago....hope this helps!

Portrait painting was huge - and a specialty was "death portraits" of children who had died. It took camera portraiture some time to catch on.

Plaster crafting (moldings,medallions and interior detail cast in plaster) Today it is a highly prized restoration art in Antebellum homes.
