I wish it was that easy my friend. Grow the seed and get a nice root stock. Next go to a garden store and clip a branch from a mandarin tree. Splice that branch to the root you have grown and you will get mandarins. 99% of seeds planted will not produce a fruiting tree. Most are hybrids. Good Luck, friend.

Most plants will not bear fruit that tastes the same as the fruit the seed came from. So, like someone else said, if you want to grow your own tree, graft on a branch to the root stock that you grew from your seed, but allow at least one branch of your new tree to grow from the seed, who knows it might taste even better than your typical mandarin orange. It would probably be easiest to start the seed in a pot then transplant it.

plant the seeds in humousy , well drained soil with maybe a little sand. keep warm and wet. germination in 20-60 days. i don't know about mandarins; but i've started quite a few varieties of citrus this way . the temp needs to be 65-75 degrees. good luck.

start seeds indoors under full spectrum lighting, it is very cost effective. in the meantime find a planting zone map online they range depending on what particular plant needs for length of day sunlight, if zone does not support plant growth you may have to continue growing indoors until natural outside climate allows for oranges to be outside only. if you are that serious you could also create an outside environment using cold frames etc.
