I loved Mirena while I was using it. I was using the Depo Provera shot for a year and a half, but gained a lot of weight with it so that's why I switched. The whole procedure was about a half hour and I had just minor cramping after it was put in and they went away within a few hours. My periods were about as heavy as they were before I went on it, and about the last year or so, they went from six days down to three (who wouldn't like a shorter period?). My husband never complained that he could feel it, so that was good. My five years were up next month and I was due to have it changed at my yearly checkup this month, but I guess because time was almost up, the hormones were really low and I did get pregnant on it. If that happens, my doctor said it's dangerous to keep it in because the baby would get the extra hormones, but there is a chance of a miscarriage when it's removed. Luckily, when I had mine removed in December, everything was fine. After this baby's born, I'm going to get another one, but I'm going to make sure it's changed a little bit sooner than the five years. Congratulations, and good luck to you.

You're prone to bleed very closely the day after it is removed and this can go on for two weeks or more so i would both have it eliminated well before or wait unless after your marriage ceremony. I had mine eliminated in August and luckily I had Googled "side effects mirena removing" so I knew to assume the bleeding it was once very heavy with massive clots. You should be taking Folic Acid dietary supplements for 3 months previous to beginning to take a look at to conceive, that's rather important. You ideally need to use condoms for the first month after getting the Mirena removed so that you simply ovulate & get your first right period (I located mine got here every week early). Enabling 1 interval to come back & go approach the medical professionals have an correct LMP (final menstrual interval) so far any future pregnancy & all the residual hormones from the IUS have left your physique. After elimination there is no intent why your fertility must no longer return to what it used to be earlier than you had the device outfitted but it will probably take a even as to conceive, as with any couple. Something as much as 12 months is considered average. The other woman who answered to a long time to conceive however this would have occurred despite whether she used Mirena or no longer, our fertility decreases with age lamentably & many couples can have issues conceiving a 2nd or 3rd baby regardless of how speedily they conceived before if if they used Mirena or no longer. Once you might be getting common periods work back 14 days from when your interval is due & that is roughly when that you could anticipate to ovulate. Pay attention to having sex every 2 days from 3 days before ovulation to 3 days after ovulation. Sincerely you are fertile about 4 days mid cycle (you ovulate around day 14) you probably have a fairly common 28 day menstrual cycle.

I had the Mirena IUD inserted at my six week check-up. About a week after that I got a yeast infection that would not go away. I call the doctor and he said that was common and my body would adjust. That was in July. Then, my IUD fell out a few days before Christmas. I fell better without the silly thing.

I had the marina IUD. It wasn't that bad when it was actually put in. However, starting that day I had severe cramping and pain where I had my back labor. (had it put in about 9 months after birth.) I gain 60 lbs. in 3 months and not because of over eating or lack of exercise. I had my migraines return, shoulder to wrist pain, fatigue, depression, evaporated sex drive, pain in my legs, abscesses on thighs, as well as a few other things. I had my IUD removed yesterday after reading some real horror stories on-line. As my doctor pulled the IUD out, it literally felt like she pulled the pain in my legs, abdomen, and legs; out with it.
Only a little over 24 hours after having it removed, my pain is gone, fatigue, oh yeah anxiety, lack of libido, are already gone. I DO NOT recommend this birth control and am myself searching for a new method of birth control. Oh yeah, and the marina site as well as my doctors insisted that the IUD was not the cause of the problems that have already gone. Strangely, removed the IUD and the some of the problems are already gone. Some were instantly gone, and more are going.
I definantly agree with everything that everyone else had to say about the marina. Somethings that they said I had forgotten. There are so many things that make you feel sooooo horrible it's hard to remember them all and some seem like they wouldn't be related to having the IUD but completely are.

I had mirena in problem free for 3 years...then the fatigue, acne and weight gain set in.
I have Paragaurd Copper IUD (no hormones) in now, and I hope there won't be these same problems.

I'd be afraid of scaring and becoming infertile. If you are taking the pil your chances of pregnancy are less than 2% and for all your friends to have the same thing happen well that is a bit outlandish. It's rare for it ot happen unless you missed a pill here and there. Use a diaphram they are natural and they don't mess with your hormones...

OW! Worst experience of my life!!
First they said it took 30 minutes to insert, but i was there for 3 hours, my body was rejecting it.
During intercourse, I could feel the copper string scraping my cervix as my husband pushed in.
and instead of discharge, I got pieces of scraped flesh in the toilet when I wiped.
They said it would take 6 months to get used to, but I couldnt handle it.
When the dr took it out, she complained that I was a waste of money. What a B***

My wife just had hers pulled after two months. It threw her system off , she had cramps and abdominal discomfort during and after sex, and it made her feel like she was having her period all the time. She was not impressed, and it cost a lot to get and to take out. SHe is on Nuva-ring something and it is working much better, lasts for a month and can be removed anytime.
