In general, growth of animals depends upon the life span.
Animals that have short life span grow at faster rate to become adult. On the other hand animals with long life span have slower growth rate.
Growth curve of man and chimpanzee is different from those of other animals.In man it is a bit sigmoid and in others it is hyperbolic.That is, initially the growth is rapid and then it slows down or tapers off.
