Yes, I just heard on the news last night where a 14 year old girl was hit and killed by a drunk driver after stepping off the school bus here where I live. Such a horrible, sad tragedy.

Watching TV news is very much depressing if the news only shows tragic and disastrous events in the world. But if it shows the achievements of specific people in different areas, it makes me feel good for them.
I also hate to watch news if it is all about politics.

When it IS depressing. But it's sometimes not the news, per se. It's just the bad news. Turn on Fox & Friends every morning and watch them play around and completely ignore world affairs. You have to read the news as it scrolls across the bottom of the screen!! Makes me crabby. Grrrrrrr @8=(

Media keep you well informed about the happening in the world. News connected with the USA are more focused in the media. Majority of our brothers are nice persons and love us whosoever we may be. Tragic news are very depressing to watch. To watch human suffering at the hands of their own people is very distressing. This is not a new phenomena. Pray for world peace.

Definitely! It's negative thing after negative thing. Sometimes, I will drink a dozen ice-cool Coors Lites, which are frost-brewed at the edge of freezing, just to cope w/ the sorrow caused by the evening news. It works for a little bit, but sometimes the intoxication just magnifies my bitterness.
Also, generally,we DO NOT see the graphic reality of the war. We don't see intestines and bleeding soldiers screaming for help and babies missing heads. I'm not trying to be sick or anything. I'm just trying to make us aware that we see, on average, a pretty sanitized version of war. If anybody knows a a news source which shows more of the reality and brutality of the Iraq war, please let me know.
