For video game consoles I say The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Even to date it is a fun and challenging game that paved the way for a hopefully never ending series. Final Fantasy would never hold a candle next to the original or any of the series on its best day. As far as PC games I would have to say the DooM series. I know the games I have stated are a bit dated but that is when games where more fun and challenging and not just a bunch of graphics with no innovation like nowadays for most game titles...

best game i ever played is oblivion for pc. the graphics are just so beautiful and realistic, much better than any console game. and also the mods u can get for oblivion on the pc are just wonderful. like the natural environment mod which makes the water much more real, and the sky and sun much more real, which looks great at sunset, even the stars at night are much more realistic. the gameplay and freedom are awesom in the game as well. plenty to do to keep u playing for along while. i cant wait to see what bethesda come up with next, be it another elder scrolls game or a completely new series of games.

That's a tough question....
For PC, it's World of Warcraft. That game is fun and you can play FOREVER without it ever getting boring. Plus, there are many other people who play so you don't feel as if you're playing with robots.
For consoles, I like Halo 2 for multiplayer because it is just really fun, and for single player I would say my favorite is Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic because it is real deep and it's not too Star Wars-y.

I would have to say Indigo Prophecy, having only a slight lead over FFVII.
Indigo Prophecy is a horror game, the controls are innovative and very different, if not unique, and the storyline keeps you guessing at every turn. You're kept coming back for more, every plot twist hooks you in deeper, and if you're like me and have crap for reflexes, you even go so far as to find a lackey to do the shoulder-button-mash parts.
Amazing, and better than FFVII because the stories were of the same quality but Indigo Prophecy was far more innovative, especially for it's genre.

Freedom Fighters on the PS2. It has the best squad leader type AI ever. You can have like 12 guys follow you into gun combat and you can tell them to attack, scout, defend, follow, man turrets, all as one or individually. Multiplayer is great too you have 6 guys and you try to hold a raised flag area really fun...Next to Halo 2 on xbox live of course.

I love all of the Party Star games for the Gamecube. Not only is it something new everything time you play it, you have bright colours without it seeming ironically cheerful, and even people who don't really know how to play video games can figure it out!

Tony Hawk Pro Skater for PS1. Got me hooked on the series. I just loved it and never got bored at all playing it. It was the greatest game of it's time and that's still one series you can play and not get bored with. That's why I also like the Tiger Woods series also. But got to give it up to Tony Hawk series.
