Nigeria in the 1900's?

In school, my group from my english class read the book Things Fall Apart. In a presentation about the book , I am the historian and would need some extra info on Nigeria. Would anyone tell me, what went on there in the 1900s. Did like Christian missionaries come there or something ?

Christian missionaries were there long before the 1900s; probably in the 16th through 19th centuries before 1900. Do a google search or look through wikipedia for more info.
