It can be if the parts inside the monitor sweat because they become cold, and short out.

i think someone mentioned condensation, and that is definitively a reasonable reason to keep ur monitor away from the cold in the summer.
If the air is humid, the water drops will condense inside the monitor which is cold because of the A/C. You probably know what happens when u mix electronics with water...

Hi there. In my opinion, I try to avoid putting my monitor near any motors or magnets (speakers). Since your monitor works partly from magnetism (search the internet on how a CRT monitor displays an image on the screen), any appliances near the monitor that outputs strong magnetic waves will cause problems (magnetic interferance). You will get unstable images, or your image will start to "wave" or "ripple", or even get a rainbow effect. So try to have the monitor away from such things like ACs, powerful speakers, strong power supplies, and you'll do ok.

Hopes this helps.

It's not bad for the monitor, but if it is a CRT monitor, the fluctuating magnetic fields generated by the motor in the AC can cause the picture on the monitor to jitter.

No, that's not a bad thing; that's a good thing. Anything electronic usually gives off heat and getting rid of the heat either makes it work better or at least helps keep it from breaking down. They put air conditioning in where I work, but it wasn't for the people; they said it was for the computers!

i dont think it would be the best idea since the condensation can get into ur monitor and cause it to short out...but otherwise i dont think its bad.

No:

If your comfortable with the temperature your monitor will be comfortable.

It will not be effected by electrical fields if any/ output by the A/C

I seriously doubt it, as long as it isn't blowing dust particles directly into the holes.
