Well, the Oscars and Academy Awards are the same. Academy Awards are granted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a professional honorary organization, which as of 2003 had a voting membership of 5,816. Actors (with a membership of 1,311) make up the largest voting bloc.

The votes have been tabulated and certified by the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers for 72 years, since close to the awards' inception. They are intended for the films and persons the Academy believes have the top achievements of the year.

The Golden Globe Awards are American awards for motion pictures and television programs, given out each year during a formal dinner. Run since 1944 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the awards are a major part of the film industry's "awards season" which culminates each year with the Oscars.

The Grammy Awards (originally called the Gramophone Awards, commonly abbreviated as the Grammys or GRAMMYs), presented by the Recording Academy known as NARAS, (an association of Americans professionally involved in the recorded music industry) for outstanding achievements in the recording industry, is one of four major music awards shows held annually in the United States (along with the Billboard Music Awards, the American Music Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony). However, the Grammys, usually held in February, are considered the approximate equivalent to the Oscars in the music world

Well, Oscars are striclty motion pictures and related items (to include documentaries, short films, production, music, etc).
They are also known as the Academy Awards (the osar is the statue, it is presented by the Academy of Motion Pictures Sciences- the "Academy").
Grammys are just music.

Golden Globes cover a wide range of categories.

Essentially, the awards were created to recognize exeptional works, but with thier wide proliferation, they serve to stroke the egos of the famous, generate money for the sponsors, and give dopey viewers the chance to see celebrities.

Grammys are for music.
Golden Globes are given out for movies and TV by the Hollywood Foreign Press.
The Oscars are the Academy Awards.
People's Choice awards are voted on by the people and have nothing to do with talent - all about popularity.
The SAG awards are Screen Actors Guild (union for actors) awards, basically it's actors giving awards to other actors.
Emmys are given out for TV. Daytime Emmys are given out for daytime TV like soaps and talk shows.
