I was thinking of applying for a job there but I have heard there are a lot of rednecks and bible belt types.

I have been there many times. I have a brother-in-law that lives there. Lots of good jobs in Oklahoma. Lots of cowboys, rednecks, and Conservative Christians. Makes it a real nice place to live. I don't know what you have heard about rednecks and "bible belt types", but they are some of the best people on earth and they would give you the shirt off of their backs if you needed it. Don't disrespect them, they are the salt of the earth.

The Flaming Lips are here! And there is a great art and music scene. It's not that bad living here, and Oklahoma City is definitely getting more interesting. I'm a native Oklahoman and I am neither a bible belter nor a redneck. But there are a lot...

I grew up in Oklahoma and consider it one of the best places to live. (I now live in California.) There is tons to do there with a great downtown, sporting events, lakes, etc. And you can't say enough about the people...you'll never find friendlier people. When tragedy strikes there (such as a tornado or the Murray building bombing), people come together to help each other out....you don't see the looting that you do else where. (I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, it just isn't prevalent.)

They are more like hillbilly rednecks and yes bible belt types that seem to be hyperhypocritical. There are some nice folks there also.

buddy, i have lived here in oklahoma since i was 7 yrs old (originally from texas). we are normal intelligent everyday people. there are rednecks in every society. the most opportunities are in either oklahoma city or norman or tulsa the biggest cities.

There are all kinds- good and not so good- some even like rock and roll and rap- there are good rednecks and not- just like all others in this world- LOL- what do you want to be around??
