Last year, due to very rainy weather in the lower Great Lakes region, I got my garden in late (in mid-late June). Then, there were a couple of days with early frost in September. What does the Farmer's Almanac say for this region for this year?

I farm in the great lake region. to help you survive this year garden. I recommend a few ideas. If you have a wet spring with which I deal with I would try to plant those plants that Will need a lot of water in the spring and can handle the temps fluctuating. bulbs would be a great to plant in wet spring soils. To start growing and extend the season you a cold frame which you can make yourself from scrap lumber and plastic sheeting. then during the heat of summer you mulch like grass clipping to keep the temps from drying and heating up the soil. this also will help cut down on watering. In the September I through row cover on my crops this help it from freezing on those early frosts in Sept.I hope this can give you an idea from your gardening 2007

April and May will be warmer and drier than normal. The period from mid-April through mid-May will be much warmer than normal, with summerlike temperatures in mid- to late April and mid-May.

Summer will be a bit cooler and wetter than normal, on average. The hottest period will be in late July.
