Since I was little I have been having chest pains...its like my ribs are overlapping and grinding together...I have to hold my breath and let it out slowly the first time, then get over the pain cause it doesn't go away until I take a deep breath. I told my doctor about it YEARS ago and he didn't do anything about it. It is so annoying and I don't know what to do. Maybe it is my body type? I'm 13 years old, 5'9 and 113 pounds..If anyone knows anything I would really like some answers...

I have a similar problem occasionally. My rib in the front slips up over the rib above it. I go to the Chiropractor. Now you would think that it is a problem in the front, but the real problem is the misplacement of the rib in back which sides up on the vertebra and consequently then causes it to push up and over the front rib. When I go faithfully for my maintain adjustments, I am okay. If I slack off the problem comes back. I have torn ligaments around my ribs which has never repaired or grown back together. It can be VERY uncomfortable. The bones actually do grind and grate against each other when left untreated. Your description is actually what it is the bones do overlap and rub against each other. There is relief. Too back you didn't get it fixed long ago. I hope you feel better soon.

Growing pains don't worry about it right now. If the pain persist in your 18-19s see a chest specialist. Good luck.

Might have something to do with they way your rib cage is growing. When you are 16 and your 7' tall hopefully your ribs will be spread out so it doesn't bother you anymore.

Doctors are not all the same. Find a new one. Any Doctor that does not LISTEN to his/her patient is not worth going to.

Go to a new doctor. But it could be heartburn; it happens even to younger people.
