Ask them before trying to lie. I wouldn't lie at all, but that's just me.

If you are only 16, your growth plates have not closed. They usually close around age 20. You don't need to get unnecessary radiation to see if your growth plates have closed. I hate to tell you but even if they havent closed, it doesnt mean you'll grow any taller. Don't worry about being short - it has its advantages.
If you do decide to lie and get an xray, the xray tech will not tell you anything about what is seen on the xrays, that will be up to your doctor. Your family doctor usually doesnt even see the images, they just get a written report from the radiologist which may not include any information about growth plates. so you may end up getting an xray and never finding out about you growth plates.
Let me know if you have any more questions

You can ask for a bone growth x-ray. Its an x-ray of the left hand to see why you're not growing. But the doctors are right, you should grow some more before you turn 18.

tellyour dr you want an x-ray to see if you have stopped growing. most will order a growth study with no problems or questions. they will x-ray both hands to determine is f you are still growing. it is a really simple test and it is easier than not telling the truth and not getting the correct test.

You might could get an x-ray just by asking if you have the right doctor. If you have insurance it probably wont cover it without a good reason.
that is not a bad height, I know people that are shorter than that.

Your pediatrician or whatever doctor you may go to will be able to tell you if your growth plates are gone or not. I know I was told around 16 or 17.

You probably need to get a doctor to order it, and don't worry, when it comes to getting additional procedures your doctor will be glad to order them (as long as you or your insurance will pay). So maybe an xray, maybe mri, maybe anything you want plus.

Doing so is dishonest, particularly if you live in a place where medicine is publicly funded. Even if you're American, you're taking advantage of spots that could be used by others with real problems
