Well then this war will turn into a failure for the administration of the United States and an international fiasco. A fiasco that would cause the United States to lose all international credibility in foriegn affairs and would affect our ability to perform peacekeeping efforts and international trade relationships. Its hard to say what exactly will happen with Iraq. If you ask a layman on the street they would suppose that Iran would try to invade to take power there, but it's my belief that they would stage a coup so they could have a puppet government there while not acting in violation of international law. I think that if this did happen after it set in the Islamic state of Iraq would be far more totalitarian and less tolerant of any of the "freedoms" that coalition forces had brought and would severely punish those that aided in the democratization of Iraq.

More importantly, what if it doesn't pass? What will Bush do? Ride out his term?

He's a lame duck President. He's on his way out and he's making cock-eyed decisions. If I were him I'd wait for more Congressional review and based on people who have been actively participating in the war, form my plan.

I don't think the surge will be sucessful - all it will do is add American concentration over there. Which, in turn, will just create more death stories.

Lets hope it works, won't that disappoint all the Bush basher's?
Dr Fine, are you an American, if so, do all American's a favor and get the hell out of our country. People like you bring us down and if you don't like it here and can say nothing good, go to the nearest airport and be gone.

Don't you mean 'when'?

We've had that many there before.

As I understand it, we accomplished our goal in ousting and capturing Saddam and his sons. After that we were just staying to help the new Iraqi government get going. Now they don't want more of us.

I say it is time to bring our folks back home.

Not "if", "When" the surge fails more American soldiers die needlessly and Iraq falls further into chaos.

It's too late to do anything but fight now. Bush, the mass murderer he is, has got the entire planet in a mess.

Even his untimely death would not change anything at this point. Read the article. Take note about halfway into it. Our children and their children, if they live through their part, will fight. Goddamn the BUSH'S.

what happens if we all agree to let the troops do their job, we show them support and it sends a message to the terrorists that we will not be defeated.
