i think there is something seriously wrong with our court system!! don't get me wrong,i think if you do the crime you should do the time.but then it should stop there. after you have served your sentence, and your free to go back into the world and better your self,it is hard to do that because it is hard to find a job if you are a felon. i believe this is a vicious cylcle, because the felons get frustrated with out being able to find a job,and feel worthless and useless because they cannot provide for there families. so what do they do, they go back to what they know, and provide for there families any way they can. something is wrong here. how can we ever give felons a chance to change if we will not hire them. there self worth is gone!!! does any one else feel this way?? i would love to get a program started that could help felons in obtaining employment. does any one know of any programs out there??? because i would like to start a program were i live to help felons.

This answer will probably get kicked off too. Mine have a way of disappearing. Anyway here goes.
Felons and Jobs those two words fail to compliment each other. I have known several felons and with out fail their attitude is, "If I have to go back to prison that ain't so bad. I can live a comfortable life and get anything I can on the outside. You know, that is probably true for them. So how in the hell are you going to motivate them to climb the ladder of success. No way! To each is own but I am not going to bet my money on a loser. Oh yes, I know, they have paid their debt to society. Not to my way of thinking. In addition to time served they should be made to pay back by the sweat of their brow the money, pain and grief they have cost society, including the cost of their incarceration. Of course that would be impossible. Maybe some very smart individual will devise a way for them to do that.
There has been in the past a glimmer of hope. In the state I reside, there was a situation where a convicted fell on, through pressure from politicians and affirmative action became a first on two counts. He was the first convicted felon and the first Black to be hired by the Dept. of Public Safety for the position of State Trooper. Now is that not the sweetest thing you ever heard?
I wonder whose pictures of doing what he had in his photo album.

Actions have consequences; that is a fact, so we can't change that. But I think a program to help felons is a great idea. I know a jail in a county near me started a work program which allows felons to go out and get real jobs while in prison. If they mess up, they can never earn the opportunity again. They are better behaved than other employment because of this, and it gives them the chane to get job skills and the experience of working, so when they get out they have somewhere to go. Part of the money goes to the prisoner and the rest goes to cover their costs of living in prison and other similar causes.

I think opportunities like these are great ways to help criminals turn their lives around, because we all make mistakes and deserve a chance to redeam ourselves. I don't know how to help you, but I wish you the best.

and what you seem to fail to understand is the liability of the company. It's hard enough for us non-felons to find adequate jobs, you made a mistake and you have to live with it. Sorry, but you should have thought of your future before committing a crime that was a felony

I agree with you.

If a person has committed a crime and done the time, it is our duty to help them resume some sort of normal life.

Too many of them end up going back down because we as a society has let them down.

I applaud you and will pray that you find the necessary information you will need to begin helping these people. God bless you.
